Who pays to run democracyGPS?

Right now, democracyGPS runs on a small budget. Most of our money comes from co-founder Chris Krenn and his family, plus small gifts from supporters (you can donate here). Our co-founders volunteer their time without pay. To grow and do more, democracyGPS hopes to get some help from foundations. These are groups that give money to good causes.

Our annual reports show where our money comes from and how we spend it.

In the future, democracyGPS plans to make money in two careful ways:

1. Showing some ads on their website
2. Offering their skills to help other groups

But here's the important part: No matter how we get money, democracyGPS promises to protect your privacy. We won't sell your information or do anything sneaky. We will always be clear about how we are using money and where it comes from.

How do you protect my information?

It is very important to us to take good care of your personal info. We don't share your name, email, or anything that could identify you when they use your answers. We only use your email to send you updates now and then. You can always check out rules about privacy to learn more.

Why should I trust you?

You can trust democracyGPS because:

1. We are a non-profit group. This means we are not trying to make money off you. We just find enough money to pay our bills, and we hope to pay reasonable wages to our staff in the future.
2. We do not favor any political party. We work for all voters, no matter what party you like.
3. We are open about what we do. You can ask us questions if you want to know more.
4. We use your ideas to find what most people agree on, which helps make things better for everyone.
5. We publish what our surveys find. So far we have published one survey. We have smaller amounts of data on other topics that we haven't published yet, because we don't have enough responses or time to analyze them, not because of what they show. When a survey has enough responses to report, we will publish what it finds, whether or not the survey identifies consensus.

What is democracyGPS?

democracyGPS is a non-profit and non-partisan organization developing new ways to persuade politicians to represent voters better and to pay less attention to special interests.

What will you do with my answers to your questions and any statements that I make?

They will be analyzed with the answers and statements from many others to look for common beliefs and opinions. Anonymous answers and statements may be shared with others, but they will not be connected with your name, your email address, or any other identifying information.
